Practice Readers Books | About

If you are a parent or caregiver reading this, you can help your child learn to read.

Even if you’re not a strong reader, you know a lot about language and a lot about your child. There are few people your child would like to spend more time with, and even fewer who can share in the joy of their success quite like you. This is your superpower!

Practice Readers Books was founded to make it easy for parents to find books to support their developing readers in high impact ways.

It should not take a ton of time – you don’t have it – and it should not require a ton of expertise – the heavy lifting has been done for you.

How do we do this?

Simple selection. We all know there are a lot of great books available. But sometimes it is hard to know how to choose. Focused on the earliest stages of learning to read, we categorize our books by phase of reading and spelling development and phonics focus to help make book selection easy.

Just-in-time tips. Key concepts are highlighted as needed to help you and your child focus on the skill being practised. They also give you insight that you can reinforce during other story times and daily activities to help learning stick.

Practical practice.  We designed our books for parent-supported reading and spelling practice. We avoid repetitive text and visual cues that distract your child from practising important reading skills. We draw on the latest evidence-based approaches to help integrate practice listening, spelling, reading, and meaning.

Love our books, or looking for something you can’t find?  Let us know.  Empowering parents and children is our business.
